Handpicked in the cool of morning, the grapes naturally fermented and were hand plunged in open vats over several weeks. A portion of the bunches were left as whole bunches. After draining to barrels for 15 months, barrels were selected and blended for further ageing, then blended before bottling 18 months after harvest.
An excellent vintage with smooth but powerful tannins that will age gracefully.
Expect the wine to mellow and the spice components to intensify with superb drinking from 2019 onwards.
Aroma: Berry fruits are evident, with layered spicy/chalky characters.
Palate: Youthful and focused, there is a rich generous front palate that leads through to a long, very fine tannin structure. Red cherry flavours combine with a light cinnamon spice lift.
