A finely textured, yet full-bodied Chardonnay of exceptional character, depth and longevity. This single estate wine is hand harvested and hand sorted from extremely low cropping blocks on our Tuki Tuki Vineyard. A core of fragrant fruit is enhanced with layers of aromatic and textural complexity derived from a very natural, low intervention approach to winemaking, including wild fermentation of unclarified juice and subsequent wild malolactic fermentation in a selection of our finest French oak barrels.
This is a complex, finely textured Chardonnay with exceptional textural length and underlying power. A core of fruit suggestive of citrus, citrus blossom, white peach, and fresh fig provides the base which carries layers of savoury complexity including toasted hazelnut or cashew, brioche, gun flint and hints of driftwood smoke. Texturally, the wine leads with a seductive fruit richness but as it progresses across the palate the structure becomes more apparent with finely balanced acidity, a slatey mineral feel and a hint of citrus pith all combining to build a framework which draws the fruit out, providing exceptional linearity and persistence.
